The 2nd Annual Erin Peterson Golf Tournament was held Monday, June 22, 2009. It was a great success, and return golfers said it was the most well run tournament they had participated in. Mother nature was on our side for once and gave us a gorgeous sunny day. Our dedicated volunteers began setting up at 8:00a.m. at the Chantilly Golf and Country Club. By 8:30a.m., we were ready when our first golfer came to register. During registration, golfers enjoyed breakfast provided by Eggspectations. The third place team, the Buffalo Wing Factory, made it just before the end of registration and the 11:00 tee time. One member of the team drove all the way from Raleigh, NC, and picked up his teammates in Roanoke on the way. Once golfing began, all the teams were able to enjoy 18 holes of rain-free golf and were each provided with a box lunch. After golfing, participants came in for hors d' oeuvres and had a chance to browse the silent auction items. Dinner was served when all golfers had finished playing, and the silent auction and live auction took place after dinner. Congratulations to the Gural Team for coming in First Place this year!
The Erin Peterson Fund was extremely touched by the enthusiasm of the crowd and would like to thank the Chantilly National Golf and Country Club, Eggspectations, the sponsors, golfers, and all the volunteers that made this day such a success. We raised over $30,000 this year! This year we have given away 5 scholarships; three more than last year this time and we plan to give away at least three more. So far to-date the Erin Peterson Fund has given away 12 scholarships and 2 leaderships grants. We cannot do this without you and for that we say thank you, thank you, thank you.
Planning for the next golf tournament is already underway, please continue checking the website for more information.
