Erin Peterson Fund to Award 2009
Scholarship In the Name of Daniel Perez
Originazation launches initiative to preserve legacy of campus violence victims
Centreville, VA - Legacy is important; people hope that the memory of their life, work and societal contributions will live long after they leave this world. The Erin Peterson Fund is committed to preserving legacy, through the organization's very existence its namesake lives on. In an effort to ensure that Erin's peers also leave a lasting imprint on this world, in 2009, as a part of the Legacy Initiative, the Erin Peterson Fund will award an educational scholarship in the name of Daniel Perez.
Most have heard or read the names of the 32 victims of the worst act of college violence in our nation's history. However, few know little more than Daniel's or the other victims' names and that they died at Virginia Tech. The Legacy Initiative is designed to ensure that students, educators and administrators who fall victim to campus violence are remembered for how they lived and that they left a legacy of hope of a higher education for future generations.
For now, the focus of Legacy Initiative is to remember those who, like Erin, lost their life at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007. In the future, the organization plans to open the nomination process to all victims of campus violence.
