Legacy is important: people hope that the memory of their life, work and societal contributions will live long after they leave this world. The Erin Peterson Fund is committed to preserving legacy. In fact, its namesake lives on through the organization's very existence. Most have heard or read the names of the 32 victims of the worst act of college violence in our nation's history. However, few know little more than the victims' names and that they died at Virginia Tech.

The Legacy Initiative is designed to ensure that students, educators and administrators who fall victim to campus violence are remembered for how they lived and for the legacy of hope they left behind that future generations will continue to benefit from higher education. In an effort to ensure that Erin's peers also leave a lasting imprint on this world, the Erin Peterson Fund will award an educational scholarship in the name of a victim.

This year we are proud to announce the Legacy Initiative Honoree is Brian Bluhm.
